For Daniel Morcombe

I am sharing this story with you, to celebrate the finding of Daniel Morcombe after and 8year search to locate him.

Daniel Morecombe was 13years, the age he was in the photo, when he disappeared from a Bus Stop in 2003. The Bus Stop is about less than an hour's drive South from me, and what would be called a 'courtesy stop' for someone to flag a Bus Driver to Stop... but on that occasion in 2003, the Driver did not stop.

         For me, it is the part of the Story that came out during this year's Enquiry... and it is the part of the Hearing from Witnesses that most struck me, that stays with me.....

         It was about 2pm on 7 December 2003, when Daniel Morecombe hailed the Bus that didn't stop.

         The Evidence goes that the regular Bus had a Breakdown. Another Bus was called in to fulfil the Run.... then, with Passengers aboard, arrived to where Daniel was waiting to board the Bus to do Christmas Shopping. The Driver already late, chose not to Stop when Daniel hailed him... but as the Evidence continued, the Driver then called-in for another Bus to come to collect the Boy still waiting. When that Bus arrived... Daniel was gone.

        Daniel Morecombe was gone for 8yrs until about 2 weeks ag0, when 3 bones and 2 shoes were found in Bushland on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, not far from where Daniel went missing. DNA testing has confirmed, the Bones are Daniel Morecombe's.

        3 Bones and 2 Shoes may seem a small amount of what was once part of Daniel Morcombe's Alive and Vibrant Teenage Body... but for all of us, who have Followed the 'Search for Daniel' all these years, the find and outcome is Celebratory Relief. For his Parents, Bruce and Denise Morecombe... Closure.

        Bruce and Denise Morcombe had been relentless in their Search for their Son. Flyers in leaflet and poster size, had been in every avenue they were able to put them. A Web site for Daniel established, and Facebook. There had not been many areas one looked where one did not see Daniel Morecombe's face, reminding everyone every day and night, the 'Search for Daniel' was ongoing.

        I personally believe the perseverance and tenacity by Daniel's Parents to find him is why we now have the results we and they have.

        Not only have they been rewarded with Daniel now found, but an arrest has been made. An arrest, from which it seems, the Location to search for Daniel's Body resulted.... a State Forest of the area.

        And one needs also to give thanks to our wonderful Earth... the intensive Flooding Rains during January 2011, did not stop the Earth from holding onto enough proof of Daniel precious remains.

        Sadly, on that fateful day in December 2003 for Daniel... his Parents, Bruce and Denise Morecombe, about an hour after their Son's disappearance, were returning from a Christmas Party, and know now, they passed within 500metres/547yards of where Daniel's Body may have already been dumped and abandoned dead or dying.

        I have stopped in general creating active outside links... but on this occasion, I will chance it for now...
