A year ago about this time I had received the unexpected surprise of discovering a newcomer had been added to our Tribe. One Clan of Doves managed to sneak in a new Bub. Quite how they succeeded in this is a mystery. I do daily clean-ups, usually also checking for eggs in danger of bursting and releasing a powerful stench from being too old. Better me doing than them. If they do it, the old egg definitely goes splat... and old egg innards provide a stench I'd rather not have to cope with.
Has been many years since the Doves did any hatching, which is good, as we really are not in a position to house any more. I usually recognise if an egg is going to, as I call the happening - 'turn', and begin processing egg-yolk and white into a Dove.
Somehow, that time I didn't see the signs. I didn't see any signs until the two Doves behind the deed and the successful camouflage looked at me oddly when I noticed broken shell.
Then I heard the familiar sound of a Baby Dove... and Mum shifted and revealed the Newcomer. Atmosphere felt like they were holding their breath while awaiting my reaction.
My reaction after recovering from the surprise was to congratulate them for their multi-level achievement and welcome the Bub. The new Parents fluffed their feathers and shook out any tension and we all got on with doing what needs doing.
To begin the visual journey I'll introduce you to the Parents... Mumikins and DaddyCool....
This is a recent photo of Mumikins (left) and DaddyCool (right).
Was done on 18 Jan 2011 with my Vivaz phone.
DaddyCool is quite close to 17yrs now, and Mumikins is nearly that.

They helped Mumzy Dove with the rearing of adopted WonderBird (Being A Family Inspires... "Family Birthday Sharing" 1 Jan 2011). (if interested, clicking on Title will take you to the Story)
This time though, with careful concealment management, they have their very own Journey.
The following photos carry you through their Journey. The Photos were done by my Lg Viewty phone.....

22 February 2010... Bub is a few days old, you can just see a smidgen of him under Mumikins' Feathers. DaddyCool had given Mumikins Millet Spray to use in the Nest, which Bub is nestled with.
25 February 2010. Mumikins (left) is snuggling her beak into DaddyCool's (right) Feathers, with Bub under Mumikins. 3 days makes quite a difference in growth and feathering for Bub.
25 Feb 2010 also, and DaddyCool on the right is visible, with Mumikins on left and Bub snuggled under Mum with the Millet Spray gift beside him.
26 Feb 2010. Mumikins lets Bub out on his own supervised. Bub's eyes now open, and Feathering is increasing, and his Crop is so full he can rest his head on it.
26 Feb 2010 also. I rather love this one. It isn't very clear, but Bub turning to look is too special to not include.
And the time of independence arrives...
10 March 2010 Bub is standing strongly. He's such a cutey, and concentrates deeply on this new standing thing.
I had intended putting padding under the Nest when I noticed Bub had begun checking-out ground-floor possibilities, but before I could achieve that he'd done the deed, landing with a thumpy plop he was down, surveying his new location and testing out his standing skills.
Twelve months later, on 18 February 2011, we managed a similar photo with Vivaz phone....
..... and Bub still has that intense concentrated look about him.
Bub really isn't overly pleased about having his photo taken, and I really couldn't convince the Birthday Boy that the doing was worthwhile.
Congratulations on reaching your 1st Birthday Bub, may we continue sharing many more years with you, from your Tribe...
It's good this is a Symbolic Doing, cause I really don't feel Bub would be overly impressed with a real balloon, especially if it popped!
Mumikins and DaddyC00l having continued the Tradition of being great Parents. Bub is truly a lovely natured Dove.
We never did progress any further with the Naming Path, 'Bub' has simply stayed as his name. (To date Bub seems to be a 'he').To my pleasure and surprise, neither Parent feels the need to oust him from the Birth and Rearing Zone, nor does Bub feel any need to challenge his Dad or compete where his Mum is concerned.
Instead, Bub helps and supports both Parents. I wonder if it is because both Parents are not so young now.....
In honour of Mumikins and DaddyCool, I'll conclude Bub's 1st Birthday Celebration Sharing with his Parents....
Congratulations Mumikins (left) and DaddyCool (right).... Bub is a beautiful and enjoyable Dove. Photo done by Vivaz of 18 February 2011.

I do hope you have enjoyed meeting another three members of our Tribe.... with this sharing you have now met 11 of Us. We are not a small Tribe... but we are lessening in number as we age and each reach our final time in turn.
Together, our Tribe, over our many shared years, daily experience new happenings. Rarely does a day or night complete without something different not occurring.
Sharing one's life with Creature Beings in particular means I function on a 24hour cycle, every day and every night of the year.
Even in sleep, a Wing flutters and I'm up and checking. I wake up in the morning or go to sleep at night never knowing what will unfold.
In the mornings I take a deep breath and ready my self for whatever. At night I think I sleep with part of me awake and alert and ready.
I live with the unexpected, unprepared for moments in amid the daily routines of every day living.
Being anywhere on time is a challenge. Achieving any task is always something to celebrate.... and as I'm ageing I find sometimes I'm just plain tired, and will give a day over to its self and just watch it do its thing.
Those times are never a good Path... I'm then faced with double the work-load... but I admit, I do enjoy the rest. And I enjoy simply enjoying my wonderfully interestingly beautiful Family.
