Welcome Visiting Reader, This Journey Telling, Is The Sharing With You Of A Unique And Special Day I Experienced On Boxing Day Morning 2010...
January is travelling along heading for February. The days and nights do pass, and more quickly as one ages. My theory is in becoming older the world becomes smaller simply because with each passing year one encompasses more knowledge with awareness of the world broadening. In a way with age one fills more space and the world feels closer.
The theory emerged while listening to a young lady telling me about her Sulphur Crested Cockatoo walking down a long hallway each morning to her bedroom. The journey for the bird is a lengthy one with him being so small in comparison to the overall space of the hallway, and he chooses to walk it. The young lady then said it takes her only a dozen or so steps to accomplish the walk. But then when she was small, that hallway was large, and it took many more steps to reach the end.
Boxing Day 2010 felt very new to me. I awoke early. My Dog, Felicity, and I went for a walk. The sky overcast with fine misty rain. The atmosphere filling me with freshness. The best description was I felt newness flowing about me and into me. For me it was a New Year's Day beginning right there and then, and a first time experience. I felt I was renewing, rejuvenating. The mood carried through the whole day. I feel filled with hope for a good and kind 2011 experience.
Musing over the experience as we kept walking, the following encounter occurred.....
I know it isn't a crisp photo. Vivaz does do her best. But what a lovely sight. The natural harmony of colour tones. The specialness of this photo is not just the Bull surrounded by natural elements but also in this scene being only about a ten minute drive to reach the local township and main highway. I think it is one of the nice parts about living in Queensland.... there are many key towns but they don't dominate. One can live amid scenes like this and still be near town.
Asked the young bull if he'd mind if I did some photos..... his reply became a delightful experience.....
After considering my request, he gambolled on over. He looked to have decided the idea might be fun in the way he seemed to skip his way over for a closer inspection. He's beautiful. Vivaz phone did his photo excellently. I put my hand out to him. Received licks from his warm wet pointed tongue while I stroked his firm damp rubber feel nose. A special happening for a special day. (Couldn't resist doing the large size. Hoped would give you the feeling I experienced when he arrived).
I am presuming the dappled Cow who then came over is his Mum. She was rather timid. I truly appreciate being able to have this photo and the others to share and keep in remembrance of a special day. Also pleased in how well the photos turned out, even here.
The interest in me and Vivaz has waned. My dog, Felicity, is who they have now focused their attention. They both are very beautiful Beings. This is a wonderful privilege with them being and remaining close.
Cameras... whether via phone or as cameras give one the opportunity to turn a fleeting moment in time into a lasting one. Very fortunate to have this one to share with you. Is a bit blurred, but too special to not include
And this is my Felicity. Another member of the Family Clan. She allowed me to do this photo Christmas Eve morning 2010 before we went for a walk. Felicity is 14yrs and 6mths in this giving, and still seeing and hearing. Am glad she allowed the doing as it was two days later we met the Cow and Bull.
I've chosen to include this giving with 'Being A Family Inspires...' because the day had been especially rich for me and happened because of my walk with Felicity...
Unique the experience was encountering a day filled with fresh newness. The time shared with the Cattle was uplifting. They are not often in that region, nor as communicative when are. Then another unique moment occurred on our way back in being escorted for a time by a Willie Wagtail Bird.
For those that may not know... they are a small black and white bird, darting and swooping suddenly and quickly as they catch insects from the ground and air. They have a long slim fanned tail which they regularly waggle....
I have been fortunate enough to source a photo via http://www.ozanimals.com The photo is by oz wildlife...
Willie Wagtail (Rhipidura leucophrys)
Height only 20cm (about 7.9inches)
Enjoys living and foraging in open forests, woodlands, parks, and gardens.
I was a small child when first met this type of Bird in the 1950's. I did my early years on the outskirts of the heart of Sydney. Often went to the nearby Park. One particular occasion of not being well, and resting under the huge canopied comforting Tree there, I became aware of this little bird dancing about me. The more I watched and listened to its chatter, the more I felt my self lifting away from feeling ill.
Days later I was walking with my then Dog, a wonderful German Shepherd named Casper, and the Willie Wagtail journeyed with us for a time, all the while dancing in front of me. Light filled the moment, and I felt I was being congratulated for taking notice and not giving up to my illness. Have never forgotten the experience. I honestly do not know if was the same Willie Wagtail from under the Tree, but I have always believed it to be so.
Therefore, with a Willie Wagtail escorting me and Felicity for our returning journey on this present occasion, increases Boxing Day 2010 for me into being one of those special occasions which Being A Family Inspire.
In writing this Story observed.... Me and Casper back in the 1950's, had begun going for our walk. This time, in 2010, Felicity and I were returning from our walk. Interesting. Maybe I have reached a completed cycle in my life journey. Being curious, did a subtraction of the two years. 60 is the result. Interesting again, as I will be 60 in 2011.
Living Life is often quite a good magic filled experience. When they happen I believe in cherishing them. I have on this occasion been richly rewarded for doing so, and by this sharing discovered a magical moment given. Thank you.

With Appreciation, from Magda
It is May 2011 as this inclusion is happening...
Was deeply privileged to have been able to photograph one of the Willie Wagtail's living amid my Rental's domain during April 2011. It is no wonder photo... but was an achievement with my Vivaz phone...
It is perched momentarily on a star-picket fence post... stayed still just long enough for me to achieve this.... I was astounded and thrilled. Even more so when I saw a recognisable result resulted.
The Willie Wagtail (Rhipidura leucophrys) is a beautiful, dancing, joy-filled Bird. I always feel my self smile as I watch them.
Regardless of how I might be feeling at the time, for me, a Willie Wagtail's presence soothes any discord occurring.
Again, my appreciation extends to you,
good wishes included from Magda

M,
ReplyDeleteI like your words as they expand the how we record each day of our lives; makes me appreciate the smaller moments. Also, it makes me want to find the idiosyncrasies of my community and how I may learn, capture and understand.
I like the photo. I hope all is well and the situation facing Australia gets better.
Thanks again!
Cheers,
Ali
