Mother's Day Memories...

Welcome To A Journey For Mother's Day I Felt Inspired As A Path To Follow And Share With You, After Reading A Post MaDonna Had Recently Written...


                                I was Visiting MaDonna's Blog - http://madonnaspersonas.blogspot.com/, reading her Post Titled, "Checking in from the chilly Pacific Northwest!" Posted Monday, 25 April 2011 - when the Story MaDonna had begun telling turned to Memories of her Mom... I was deeply moved.... and my thought processes came into the fore... and I agreed with them...
         Mother's Day is not always a joyous time... but it is still a Special Day... a day when, if for some obscure reason, you have not given a moment's thought or consideration for the one Person, who has given or is giving all she can, for your individual growth and providing the opportunities for you to live your Life well... Mother's Day is the blatant reminder that consideration for your Mum is quite a good idea.
         Sure there a those who may not always have good thoughts about their Mum, and those that may have valid reasons to have no reason to think of their Mother with kindness.
        But... the deepest essence still remains... you are Alive because of the one Person who gave you Life... your Mum/Mummy/Mother/Mater/Mom... her Titles are many.
        And... with Life's very Breath flowing through you, you also have the opportunity to give your Life Meaning... and the opportunity exists because you had/have a Mother who gave you the chance to Be.
         Therefore Mother's Day is a specific reminder. A Moment in Time to Reflect Back and re-Journey right into the present of who you are, the Life Way you have shaped for your Self and importantly... realising the one Person who shares/shared your Journey with you... the Person, the Woman, you know as your Mother.
         These Words are not just focused on the Person the Woman who became your Mother because she Birthed you, but also belong to the Person the Woman who adopted you to be your Mother. The Person the Woman who Married your Father, accepting her role would not only begin as your Father's Wife, but with also knowing she would be learning the Way to be for you a Mother.
        I am also writing these Words in honour of all Women, who from within their very core, simply embrace the Path of Mothering when that is the Way most needed by another. The nurturing received from a Woman who is, has become, or was, a Mother Figure in one's Life is also someone to remember on Mother's Day. They each have been essential to the Well Being for those who a Mother Figure has been the only Mother's Love they knew or know.
         For those who do not have good Memories of their Mother... remember, they are also a Gift from your Mum... because from them you still have been given the opportunity from your Mother to shape your Life differently.

         In continuing with this inspired Path for Mother's Day, I wondered how I could go about it... and again inspiration arose from MaDonna... but this time from Paper type Wallpapers MaDonna had done that I remembered seeing while Journeying her many Creations at http://my.desktopnexus.com/MaDonnas/uploads/... so off I went, found them, saved them, put them into my Window's Paint... well I hope you like what came about....


         First is a Journey for a Mother's Child or Children on Mother's Day, which I hope will be meaningful for you....

         Then the other side of Mother's Day occurred to me... because Mother's Day is also about Mother, and for her also Mother's Day is not always a time of joy....

         I dedicate the following bouquet of Flowers to every Mother of every Species and also to our Earth.
        I believe it is necessary to remember that a Mother's nurturing is not the sole occurrence within the Human realm. Mothers also occur  throughout Nature's wonderful Beings... they are the Mothers Great and Small of Sky, Earth and Water, who fill our Earth with variety...
       So I hope you too join me in wishing each of Nature's Mothers a beautiful love filled Mother's Day that stays with each every day... and to also join me in wishing our beautiful Earth a Joy filled Mother's Day... after all, where would any of us be without our Earth....

         With my penchant for Researching, I did a Search to know when a Mother's Day concept had begun... well, I thought I'd typed a simple innocent question into Google Search... of course I hadn't... and I'd probably still be here for next Mother's Day with what I'd found....

          The Modern concept of a Mother's Day day began in America in 1870 after Julia Ward Howe wrote a "Mother's Day Proclamation" in reaction to the carnage of the American Civil War of 1861-1865 and the Franco Prussian War of 1870-1871. The idea and resulting action stemmed from Ms Howe's belief that Women have a responsibility to shape their Societies at a Political Level.
         By 1912, Anna Jarvis trademarked the phrases "Second Sunday in May" and "Mother's Day", with emphasis on the location of the apostrophe to be placed to indicate a singular possessive. In other words, the placement of the apostrophe was to ensure that Mother's Day was focused on each Mother as an individual and not as a Collective Whole.
         Mother's Day as a Holiday became Nationally recognised in the United States by 1914. Anna Jarvis is the Founder of the Mother's Day Holiday in America.

         There are now many Countries observing the "Second Sunday in May" as being Mother's Day, not all consider Mother's Day a Holiday, but I was very surprised discovering just how many Countries follow this particular day for Honouring One's Mother...

         Amazing don't you agree? The years as you can see cover 2010-2012, with dates being based on the Gregorian Calendar.

         In Australia, Mother's Day is not a Holiday, but it is where the Commercial side of Mother's Day seems to have evolved. The Story certainly gives a rather nice view of Mother's Day Commercialism... 
         The Tradition of Gift-Giving to one's Mother on Mother's Day was started in Australia in 1924 by a Mrs Janet Heyden. A Resident of a Suburb in Sydney New South Wales known as Leichardt. A Suburb still in existence in 2011. I lived there my self for a little while during early 1970.
         Mrs Heyden, while visiting a Patient at the Newington State Home for Women, also met there many lonely and forgotten Mothers.
        To cheer them up, she rounded up support from local School Children and Businesses to donate and bring Gifts to the Women.
        Every year thereafter more support was raised by Janet with Local Businesses and even the Local Mayor, and the Tradition of Gift-Giving to the lonely forgotten Mothers on Mother's Day flourished.
         Hence the beginning of a Commercialised Mother's Day had begun.

         Wouldn't it be really wonderful if all the present Commercial aspects surrounding one on Mother's Day also included the real reason. I'm sure if the Story behind Commercial Mother's Day was included each year, there would be very few lonely and forgotten Mothers on our precious Earth.

          I have noticed while doing this Mother's Day Post that the dates related to a Mother's Day day being established are linked to Wars... Interesting. Sad. Significant. Even the date of MaDonna's Post inspiring this Path I followed for Mother's Day turned out to be significant. It was 25 April, which is ANZAC Day for Australians. The day Australians remember the Soldiers who died at Gallipoli, Turkey in 1915 during World War I.
         So without knowing... my Journey being shared with you for Mother's Day aligns with the why there is an actual Mother's Day Day. A really lovely discovering for my self. I also hope this Journey with Mother's Day has been interesting and meaningful for you.

On A Personal Note....

         I was given a special gift when I had closed off from my Mother's Day research.. and felt I had been given my own special Mother's Day Gift, even if a few days early...
        The Story goes back a few months when I gathered up an Australian Pale-headed Rozella, who had awkwardly come out of Bushes almost in front of me. Unable to fly, and doing peculiar hops, and then protesting reasonably vigorously at feeling my contact... we finally managed to work together towards recovery...
         The following photo is not of TrippaTrip, the name that happened for the Bird I cared for, but is one I sourced, so those of you who have not seen an Australian Pale-headed Rozella would be able to see what they look like....

          The Male is behind the Female in the foreground. My TrippaTrip was quite young, so still had quite a lot of red on top of the head.
         The Pale-headed Rozella (Platycercus adscitus) is about 31cm or just over 12inches. They live in Woodlands, Farmlands, Parks and Gardens always near Tree cover. Seeds and the Fruits of Grasses, Shrubs and Trees are foods enjoyed as well as Flowers and Insects. Nests are made in Tree hollows, where wood dust on the floor of the hollow will be used to lay 4-8 eggs upon. Australia's North-East and Eastern Landscapes are Home to our Pale-headed Rozellas. I would describe their Speech as a medium pitched staccato rhythm Bird tone, lasting for short spans and often regularly repeated.
         My TrippaTrip had a wonky wing. It wasn't broken, which was a good thing. Time, food, rest and restricted movements hopefully would allow the wing to again lay properly along the body. I was informed this may take months, but TrippaTrip had other ideas. Within weeks TrippaTrip decided it was time to go. The enclosure I was using really was too small for a Bird becoming active. With being unable to acquire a larger one, I took a big breath, deciding if flight did not happen... the wing was still at an odd angle, even if  being used in the tiny enclosure had begun... I would simply scoop him up again, regardless of protests. Without flight survival would not prevail.
         TrippaTrip bolted out the enclosure. Flight was hit and miss and also success. I stayed nearby just incase I was needed... but TrippaTrip was succeeding to move from branch to branch of Trees, even with a few topples occurring. On the whole the event was working out okay.
        And that process continued improving day to day. I'd be called and I'd respond, and TrippaTrip would show me each day's progress. Then he was gone, sort of. For months now at different times of the day I would hear what I believed was TrippaTrip's call, I'd always respond, but never actually saw him. So I never really knew if it was TrippaTrip letting me know he's surviving.
         That has now changed. I'd just finished my notes from my Mother's Day research. Closed down my computer, when I heard the TrippaTrip call. As always I responded, only this time there he was. I really needed to know for certain. I dashed outside saying his name, and I could fully see him. I say him, because his head had become quite a bright yellow, with minimum red. The wing still lays at an odd angle, but he looked wonderful. My heart soared. I knew at last for certain TrippaTrip is coping. He then flew off, and I felt filled with having been given a Mother's Day Gift from TrippaTrip. Wow. Perfect.
         And my Mother's Day Gifts did not end with TrippaTrip... I also received a surprise visit from close Friends whom I had not seen for some years while in the process of finishing this Post.
         I also received a phone call from a dear Friend I have not seen for about 6 years we estimated... but will on the 3rd Sunday of May... to me is entwined because of the phone call.
         Another amazing moment was to receive a truly profound Mother's Day Card from a wonderful Friend who I experience as the most intuitive Woman I have ever encountered... and in words like she wrote... we are all Moms... not just to our Kids, but to all we give of our selves with caring to during our Lifetime and with our Connection to Mother Earth. To accompany those similar words was the Card... Mothers of Water, Earth and Sky... I was stunned. My wish granted for remembering our Earth and Nature's Mothers on Mother's Day. But, as my wonderful Friend also wrote... not just on Mother's Day but every day.
