Welcome To My Photo Journey With One Of My Area's Main Traffic Bridges After Days Of Rain, Which Fell Just Like The Introductory Image Indicates Visiting Reader.
The Little Bridge In Queensland Australia, Is One Of Two Linking South Gympie To The Main Township. Is Regularly Washed By The Mary After A Good Dose Of Rain.
Thankfully, The Second Bridge Requires A Lot Of Rain For The Mary To Flood It, Making This Journey More A Story To Share Than A Critical Event.....
This Journey is a follow on from Photo Journeys "Rain Stopped Sun Shone", Posted prior to this giving.... With needing to travel to town on the Monday of 20 Dec 2010, discovered not unexpectedly after so many days of constant rain, one of the area's main traffic bridges was again under the Mary River's focused flowing to carry rapidly its extra load of water.
The bridge was not as severely under as has been, but still rendered unusable by anything other than the River.
I was fortunate enough, with permission, to be able to drive close enough to then walk near enough for Vivaz to be able to photo the scene without risk to any of us.
The goal had been to Post both on the 20th, but I encountered a really awful experience while doing the workings here.

The Behind the Scene part of my Site flickered, and the work page enlarged. Then flickered, and the work page became larger. The flickers and enlarging happened a few more times until all I had in front of me was the writing work space with a navigation space bar added.
Imagine seeing this sentence only from 'imagine to sentence', and you'll be seeing in your thoughts what I was looking at with maybe another few lines included because the print also had enlarged.
Every Behind the Scene area had become the same. I even signed out and came back later.... no change. Signed out and waited until morning... still no change.
Could find nothing that would enable me to bring back all the parts, now somewhere only the navigation bar could bring back as the part in front of me began disappearing into the Behind Scene of the Behind the Scene ether space of the programme.
Tears began filling my eyes thinking I may have to give up my Site before ready to do so. Was not possible to utilize it in that condition. Could only see a few words at a time as I typed, or bits of any other area. The Public Post Page quite normal.
Decided to seek assistance via Help Centre. Sought right wording to succinctly define dilemma. Waded through presented situations, stopping at one describing 'resolution shrinkings'. Clicked on. What I read worth trying, went back.... applied.... opposite of advice given.... I needed shrinking not enlarging... the relief flooding in, as I watched more and more sections of Behind the Scene appear until normal size, with all aspects again usable, was joyous. Re-sought advice entry and sent a letter of thanks.
If you experience shrinking or enlarging of your behind the scenes parts of your Editing For Posting Area, the rescue is... Ctrl and +/= enlarges or _/- shrinks. It works. Appreciation to the advice from, puggsoy Blogger .
With that given, will return to the flooded bridge. Feels nice to be able to too. Especially now being able to rescue my self from the 'flicker enlarge' episodes. Had experienced them before. Though usually returned to normal with next flicker.
This is looking from the Southside of this Queensland Australian area. The river is flowing North. In foreground on right can just see shadow of kerb. The little whitish bit I discovered is a Butterfly.
And this is Butterfly. Is not on or in water. Was having a nice time flying about above it. I did see it, just didn't realize Vivaz had managed to include it at the time. Quite a spiffy result I feel.
If you'd like to see more photos of this event, please do....
Same scene. In viewing closer on what would be land if was visible, but now under water, can sense depth of water's rise from the Trees and have an idea of the water's swiftness.
Moving towards the bridge area its self, the flow is quite fast. The signs indicating where the road's edge is.
This is from closer to where me and Vivaz were looking towards the previous scenes.
Looking towards bridge, can still see it. When severe flooding occurs, bridge and road other side are under water. Also would only see tops of signs. Road's side guide line in left foreground.
Now looking towards South, direction River's water is flowing from. Can just see a hint of Road's centre traffic line in left corner area. Fencing shows boundary which would have lead to cattle's grazing area.
Following on from previous scene's fenceline towards bridge's direction. Road would be on left if had been included. Tree and fence indicate water's rise depth.
This is looking towards in essence Brisbane, about a 2hr drive away. The Mary River flows from that direction to the North. The floodings and resulting swiftly flowing water flush and aerate the River as it travels to its destination.
The Mary River is a vital water-way for numerous townships it passes. Has still hours of journeying to complete when having passed here. Of course the flooding for the towns can mean hardship and loss. There have been major floods just in this region. When those times happen, most of the town floods. The business area being the part that can almost disappear. Not nice for any.
These small floods are to be thankful for in areas prone to going under the River's rush to empty its overload.
