With Love For The Eucalypt... Part 1

Hi there and welcome Friend or Visitor,
I find it interesting how I can be in one place doing one thing, then find my self being side-tracked by something else.

One such occasion inspired February to become Posts dedicated to Trees, well it will mainly be about One Tree - a Eucalyptus Tree. Unfortunately, which particular Eucalypt it is I gave up trying to identify. I'm simply Posting the photos I have of a magnificent (to me) Eucalypt living on what I call, the Far-West Paddock area connected to the Property where I rent.

I achieved a lot of photos of the beautiful Eucalypt. Many may even look similar, yet they are all of different aspects of the one magnificent Eucalypt. There will also be some of Eucalypt's Neighbours included. Who they are I also was unable to identify at the time, but I liked the photos anyway.

The wonderful Journey I've had with this one Eucalypt I'll spread over 4 Postings during this February... I have quite sufficient photos of it to do so, which is pleasing.

The Inspiration came from learning about Tu Bishvat. The Jewish New Year Of Trees, which for 2012 is February 8. Tu Bishvat is also known as Israel's Arbor Day.

I then had quite a discovery about Arbor Day around this Earth being acknowledged by different Countries on different days and months. I would also presume each Country's Arbor Day date coincides with certain traditions associated with the People of the Country, like Tu Bishvat is.

Overall, the essential inspirational essence for me with what I learnt, is in Trees being given special recognition over most of this Earth by Folk in different Countries throughout the year... and I simply really like that thought to carry with me because I very much do love Trees.

Eucalypt's and Neighbours' photos I did during November 2011, and I'll begin with a Ground Level photo taken on the Furthest Away West Paddock.... don't forget the elegant Slide-Show Way we now have to appreciate each others photos with.....

It's one of the beautiful aspects of Trees.... they shed.... what they shed becomes mulch... under the mulch moisture is nurtured... from that nourishment an expression of simply colourful beauty emerges.

Travelling back towards the Eucalypt, I needed to find my way across the channels connecting to the main dam.  Doing so gives the next photo.... an interesting Yellow Flower emerging along and on top of its stalks. The stalks emerge from the dam's low water areas of muddy silty stuff and grasses ....

I'm about half way back to the Eucalypt when I notice the fascinating Purple Flowers I've seen before. The Flowers blossom on the top of long spindly leafy stems. The spindly stems can reach over 1mtr/5ft, and appear amid Scrubby Trees, mainly during the end of Spring early Summer I've noticed....

The Flowers are fascinating, and a challenge for me to photograph. Each Flower is about 1cm/0.4inches. The slightest air movement moves the spindly stem, which is always taller than me. Plus Vivaz (my phone) feels challenged when I ask for details of such small things. But the idea is visible, and I've decided that matters.

Now I've made it back to Eucalypt. A Tree I deeply love. Always feel awed by. Appreciate immensely.
A few years ago I buried one of my beloved Hens at the base of this magnificent Eucalypt, deep within it's shed Bark, small Branches and Leaves. I had felt invited to do so. When done, laying beside me was a generously branched lightweight, for me, part of Eucalypt... laden with Eucalypt's Sweet Scented Cream Blossoms and Eucalyptus Scented Leaves.
I felt deeply moved and thankful as I laid the Gift over my Sammy-Lee's grave. Eucalypt's  Gift was extended further into protecting Sammy-Lee's empty body, because her grave has never been disturbed.

Do share with me my enjoyable photo journey with Eucalypt...

The foliage you will see in the next two photos are not Eucalypt's. Eucalypt shares its space with a few other types of Trees in quite close proximity. Together and individually they flourish...

The next photo is looking back to where I came from when I met the Flowers. The canopy we look under from is one of Eucalypt's main close proximity residents and giver of the Leaves in the previous two photos.
Though these photos were done between 9am and 9.30 am, it was already one of those extra warm to hot days for the last month of Spring in the Southern Hemisphere, as the glare out from the shade of the Tree's Canopy  indicates....

With the next photo I'm looking towards the direction I'll be going when I leave Eucalypt to return to where I rent... to the left, past the distant Trees....

Those Scrubby Trees are mostly types of Eucalypt and types of Wattle. Have enough of them, with a few greener type Tree Canopies included, and quite possibly will be where the Purple Flowers on the Spindly Stem might turn up.

One last photo to farewell Eucalypt for this Part 1....

An observance during Tu Bishvat is to eat food that comes from Trees. The following photo by Gilabrand in Jan 2008 I think is beautiful....

Gilabrand - Jan 2008 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tu_Bishvat
I think I was connecting from somewhere deep within me when I recently did my first February food shopping.... Before I had learnt about Tu Bishvat, I felt a strong pull towards a dried fruit and nut mix which contains some of the above. I smiled when I realised the connection. I like discovering the combination of who I am is quietly awake.

Maybe you'll join me for Part 2 of my Journey with Eucalypt.

  2. Thanks LAURA,
Purple Flowers are unique I agree and always give something extra special wherever they Bloom.

The best way to enjoy that Eucalypt's aromatic scent is if it lets fall a branch filled with Leaves and Flowers when the time is right for the Flowers to be.
Very big is that Eucalypt. I have to really tip my head back when near it to see its canopy above.

Appreciate you'll return for Eucalypt's unfolding Story...

Hugs with love and xoxo also

Thank you for your comments while I've been away - they were much appreciated. Susan xx :D)

  4. Hello Magda
Thanks for popping in and for your comment on the 'cats among the daisies'. As you probably could tell flowers and cats are a love of mine.
Those are some rather nice photos you've shown here today - what is the name of the yellow flower please?
    Take care
    Cathy

  6. SUSAN, thank you so much for visiting. Love your new photo... the parasol is beautiful, so glad it was able to return with you.
    Wonderful to have you back.

The interesting aspect with Eucalyptus scent, is no matter how well the distillation or extraction process is for bottling, the only really beautiful way to experience the clean aromatic scent is via the Leaves.... no bottled version is as good I have found.

I often bring a fallen branch filled with Leaves and sometimes Flowers inside for the Doves... the Eucalyptus aroma travels through the house and is exquisite.
    hugs xxx

  7. Welcome CATHY, appreciate you Visiting, apologies though, my actual Today's Flowers contribution is from way back in Feb 2011.. bit of a glitch at this stage when I participate, but truly appreciate you felt staying and visiting with this Eucalyptus Post worthwhile.
Have sent you a letter, and included my Today's Flowers #181 contribution link.

Flowers and Cats... both are a beautiful, I enjoyed my visit.

I've been trying to locate the identity of the Yellow Flower... am not having any luck... it may even be non-native... I'll keep searching... and will definitely let you know if I ever find out.

Glad you had a nice time...

  8. RED, you are always such a treat to have Visit...
and oh yes I do so agree... Eucalypts are magnificent!

With your travels you would meet a wondrous array of Eucalypts enhancing Australia's Landscape.
I find (by chair travel viewing and reading) it is Western Australia's Landscape that has Eucalyptus produce some of the more stunning looking Flowers... and I discover the Mallee types often have beautifully interesting Blossoms.

I think the pendulous 'Silver Princess' is one of my favourites. I envision a Weeping Willow effect done in Eucalyptus style. I think Eucalypt's Silver Princess grows also in Victoria.
I hope I'll physically meet one before my life time is over with Earth.

I subscribed to Journey Jottings after you introduced Linda's site... I've been awe struck seeing Eucalypts amid a background of Australia's stunning Red Landscape.
I really believe there would not be another Tree on Planet Earth that could partner so well with Australia's Landscape. Awesome partnership.

Will be good seeing you in part 2 Red xxx
