Today, between 2pm and 4pm, the sky over Queensland Australia went into a serious story mode. The day had been reasonably hot and heavy yet didn't feel intended doing what eventuated. Maybe the sky simply decided to have a say, a rather big say as it turned out, even if quick. Where I am the Storm's Story gave impact, but when it reached Brisbane must have really built up an opinion that according to the news was a serious lashing for all in its path.
I rather love Cloud Stories. Fortunately my Vivaz phone was able to record this Cloud Story rather well as I held it out the upstairs window. If I've heard correctly over the news, these storm clouds were called a Storm Cell.
That is what I began seeing coming from the South West while I was downstairs. So richly expressive. I had to ask my Vivaz to have a go. The window upstairs offered the best view to photo the unfolding story. The old outhouse is part of the property's scenery and quite picturesque. Is even managing to reflect the Storm Cloud's colour tones.
This view is looking to the South. I wasn't sure if needed to include the telling with next photo following this part of Storm Cloud's Story from a lower perspective. But it kept convincing me that it has a valid part of the story to recount.
The brown item amid the trees is a very large shipping container neighbour utilizes for storage. Nifty idea possibly.
Looking towards South. That is the follow-up part from previous photo of Storm Cloud's Story. And yes, the reasoning for being included is valid I feel. That photo is a rather more landscapey part of this telling.
The whitish item on the left amid the trees has been an interesting disintegrating process to observe. Was once I presume a functioning caravan. Now a curiosity about decay....
These photos me and Vivaz phone achieved show the growing story of the Single Cell kind, it is also known as a Pulse Thunderstorm. Once ready to be a storm, the event lasts about 20 to 30 minutes. Though are not usually severe, can produce a brief sudden severe weather event.
If you are interested in discovering more, I highly recommend to google search Storm Cells. I found the experience in general very informative.
I looked up 'Storm Cells', and learnt they come in four types. Single cell, multicell cluster, supercell, and squall Line.
A Storm Cell, in brief, is an air mass containing up and down drafts in convective loops, and moves and reacts as a single entity. These photos me and Vivaz phone achieved show the growing story of the Single Cell kind, it is also known as a Pulse Thunderstorm. Once ready to be a storm, the event lasts about 20 to 30 minutes. Though are not usually severe, can produce a brief sudden severe weather event.

South West West is the above view. Outhouse features strongly in the telling. By then the wind had begun. Also I was not quick enough when a few really bright streaks of lightning occurred. Apologies.
One of the beautiful parts of a Storm's Story is how its light interacts with the landscape. The reason I've included it as best as Vivaz and me could.
South South West is the above photo. Rain was beginning. Spaced blob droplets. No elegance, just muscle. The wind becoming serious about pulling those massive storm clouds too. Interestingly, thunder and lightning did not have much to contribute to this Storm Story.
South South West again for the above. Rain becoming serious. Wind becoming stronger. It was time to bring Vivaz in, and for me to quickly close windows and put away items light enough to join the Story unfolding.
Well buckets of rain Storm Cloud poured out while Wind worked industriously into having that rain become horizontal. Nearly, but not completely. Within two hours the whole story was told. The Sun shined, the birds sang, the landscape freshly bright, Air cleaned.
I appreciate where I am experienced only the introduction. The crass part sounded rough as I listened to the News.
Until soon, or sooner, from Magda

Thurs, 16 Dec 2010 Update:
Listening to midday news learnt the Storm's Story was not over. It is in the process of putting together a sequel for much of Queensland today, already trial-tested its ideas in some areas this morning, with not too nice results in my opinion.
Seems after leaving here yesterday, it turned its self into a Super Cell Storm Story event for Brisbane. Have seen photos.... by the time had reached Brisbane that Storm Cell's colour was very Green, and caused havoc!
Today also feels different. Very dense is the atmosphere.
8pm Update:
Sydney received the impact of the sequel during the day. Storm's Story has become quite vicious in the telling. When done there, decided to head North. Some areas of Queensland experienced the telling severely. Where I am, am relieved to write the Story was told reasonably gently with Wind and Rain, and some Thunder and Lightning for emphasis.
The Storm's Story began here again about 1pm. The dense air became like a heat-wave. At times moist, at times dry, with chilly bits intermingling. About an hour or so later subsided. By 5pm the stormy part of the Story began. Has abated and continued moving North. It is quite chilly now, with intermittent rain and or wind.
Storm's wake is beginning to happen. Feels not too good a part of the telling either. Sky for night time has an orangy hue, and the rain is thumping down with wind to force it along. I hope that is all the Storm's Story requires for the telling.
Until... Magda

WOW! I was completely sucked in to the storm cell world, scary though it is.
ReplyDeleteBut it was your thoughts on the outhouses that REALLY hooked me ...
Have a great weekend!
RED... your visits never fail to have me feel I can achieve anything I aim for... you give astonishingly wonderful energy, and I nearly always laugh... thank you.
DeleteThat Outhouse is quite a wonder with all the changes happening to it now that it just sits there as an ornament.
I also discovered by listening to Sue-Belinda Meehan on Sunshine Coast Radio 4mb, that the using of such facilities was known as going to the 'necessarium'. Apt I think.
The Storm Cells are scary... physically watching one happen is awesome... glad I never saw it turn green... that would have been too awesome.
You have a great weekend too, which I'm sure you will... you love life too much not to I feel.
your "outhouse in the storm" shots are classic

Hopefully you don't receive my responses again. Apologies if does happen. I've changed my Comment form to the Embedded version. I like the option to directly reply to someone who has left their input. More personal. Then me being me, is now working my way through my Posts to re-place my responses into the Reply section. So some copying, pasting and deleting is happening.
